Farm & Food
At Wind Whistle Farm & Nature Education Centre, we believe that food is more than just nourishment—it’s a connection to the land, the seasons, and the community. Our farm blends traditional wisdom with sustainable innovation, producing healthy food while nurturing the ecosystem that supports it.
What We Grow
Each season brings its own harvest. We grow a diverse mix of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and perennial crops designed to thrive in harmony with our landscape. Depending on the time of year, you might find:
Spring
Summer
Fall
Year-round
We grow with the rhythm of nature, so our harvests are always changing and always fresh.
Our Farming Practices
We see farming as a partnership with the land. Our practices reflect a deep respect for soil, water, and biodiversity:
-
Permaculture Design – we plant food forests, guilds, and perennial systems that support long-term abundance.
-
No-Till Methods – to protect soil life, we avoid plowing and instead build fertility with compost, mulch, and cover crops.
-
Wild Gardening – we let nature lead the way, welcoming native plants, pollinators, and natural balance into our fields and gardens.
By farming this way, we produce food that’s not only delicious but also deeply regenerative.
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
We’re exploring the creation of a CSA program—a subscription-style food box that connects you directly to the farm. CSA members receive a weekly or bi-weekly share of seasonal produce, harvested fresh and packed with variety.
Benefits of joining our CSA:
-
Guaranteed access to the freshest harvests
-
Seasonal recipes and cooking tips included
-
A direct way to support sustainable farming and local food systems
Stay tuned for updates as we shape this program with our community.
Farm Store & Products
Our farm store is your gateway to fresh, farm-grown produce, herbs, and small-batch products. While we currently offer sales on-site, we’re working toward future options for online ordering and e-commerce so that our food can reach more homes and tables.
Some items you’ll find:
- Fresh seasonal produce
- Mushrooms and foraged goods
- Herbal teas and natural remedies
- Farm-made preserves (when available)
Every purchase supports both the land and the learning experiences we provide at the farm.
